Planning Bedroom Decoration
Bedroom, without you realizing is the place where most of your time is spent and most importantly it’s the space you relax in. You spend time in there getting ready for work, for power naps, catching up with your reading at nights and for a good nights sleep. But often just putting some dark colored drapes is all we do to plan for bedroom décor without recognizing the fact that we also need to plan for clothing space, toiletry space, the bed itself, bed spreads and the wall color schemes.
Have a proper plan in place
- Planning your bedroom style is most important before anything else, you might want to go for contemporary designs, casual, traditional or styles from across the globe.
- Depending on the size of your bedroom , the first thing to do is plan the size of the bed , where you are going to place it and then follows the rest of the planning for other essential bedroom décor.
- You could place the bed in the center or at corners that you prefer, remember, bedroom is your personal space and what you like is of prime importance than going by any rule books.
- Plan for wall color schemes that are soothing and relaxing than bold colors which tend to get suffocating and over bearing.
- Is there space for a separate dressing closet, you will have to create some space for this purpose. If you think that your bed is occupying too much space and eating out on you closet space, you could get a smaller bed.
- Chalk-out a plan before- hand for some storage space for your clothes and other essentials prior to purchasing the bedroom décor. You could get a cupboard done that matches the colors used in the room rather than getting something completely out of place or go for a built-in storage space.
- Have smart storage plans for your clothing depending on the size of the room.
- Depending on the area of the bedroom, you would want to have a television set in it, couple of chairs if you occasionally prefer your evening coffee, or read a book.
- Make sure that proper plugging and wiring is done for lamp shades at your bedside, in your dressing area, for dryers etc.
- If you wish to make your bedroom grand and luxurious, planning for chandeliers that suit the décor will be a good idea.
- Plan for high ceilings if you desire to go for four-poster beds.
- Go in pale or dark colored drapes depending on the sun light your bedroom receives during the day.
- Plan for a dressing table with enough drawers for storage if you can accommodate one in your bedroom.
- Don’t overload your bedroom if it is small in size, it might give a suffocating feel and you might not get that soothing relaxing feel, keep the other furnishings simple and non fussy and concentrate on just the central bed.
- Organize your bedroom in such a way that there is no clutter and there is enough space to move around with ease.
- Key is being simple and yet elegant.
