Walls and Floor
You are half way through with your bedroom décor planning and now wondering about its walls and floor. Should it be paint for the walls or wall paper is the issue and what colors and types of wallpaper is another issue. Likewise the bedroom flooring needs to be in tandem with the entire look of the room and yet be easy maintenance, either spreading a carpet or a wooden or tiled floor are the various choices to choose from.
Walls
- Paints or wallpapers are both ideal for the bedrooms depending on your personal choice.
- Lighter colored paints and wall papers are perfect for smaller rooms while the darker shades are just right if you want that cozy comforting feel for your bedroom provided there is good amount of sunlight coming in during the day with the room large enough.
- Paint effects like dragging, grisaille, stippling could be used.
- Painting is much easier than wall papers; however wallpapers are more widely used.
- Horizontal strips in the wall papers will help the room look wider, vertical longer and darker wallpapers smaller; choose those that suit the plan of your bedroom style.
- Floral wall papers are especially pleasant for bedrooms.
- You could go in for wall papers with abstract designs for a more in and contemporary look.
- Wall paper borders can also be used as a way to border walls for high ceilings.
- Stenciling is another method of doing up your walls for a more individualistic and original feel.
Flooring
- Going by what you like best can be the reason for you to choose a carpet, a floor with wooden finish or polished floor boards.
- Going for a wooden flooring if the color schemes on the walls are of lighter and cooler shades provides a good contrast and balance, giving warmth to the room . They also give a sense of traditional style to the room if you desire such a fashion.
- Laying small rugs with bright colors on the bedroom floor is another way of adding character and creating interest in the room. These could be changed from time to time giving scope to changes and modifications.
- If the bedroom is not too large, laying a lighter colored carpet all over will create a sense of space and make the room much bigger than it is.
- Since the bedroom usually is not the most visited room by many people and hence less wear and tear of the carpet, there is scope for you to indulge in something that is lavish.
