As it is said home is where the heart is, you’d want to do up your home and create that perfect haven you’ve always wanted to, in this endeavor you most probably will seek advice from one of the professionals around or look into color theories and go on a knowledge gaining spree all about colors and color schemes. Looking around, observing is one of the best ways to draw inspirations for your color combinations. Nature around you could be one of the ways, the color combinations of flowers and shades of greens can be one such source of inspiration. You could have a wall paper done up in the color of the flowers you prefer. Looking at fall colors is another way of drawing inspiration. You’ll be surprised getting so many ideas by just observing.
Collecting books, magazines, brochures that have some ideas could be another way to draw some inspiration. Cutting out interesting layouts from magazines and choosing the one that suits your budget is ideal too.
You may be drawn towards some colors without actually realizing it; you may like shades of reds and other tones that match up to it or you may like a particular color scheme , so looking at various pictures and illustrations is a good idea for some inspiration.
Specific styles from around the world like Late Victorian style could be worked on, or you could go for more contemporary and modern styles or go completely traditional with ensemble from different time periods skillfully assorted for a complete and satisfying result. Looking at the designs and giving them a thought will help you form your own view.
Central piece
You could draw inspiration from a rug that has just been there or a lampshade and work the entire theme from here on. Choosing the wall colors and the entire ensemble around the central piece can be quite interesting. Say , if your personal picture frame is in black and white , you could make the theme interesting by giving the walls a bold color so that they enhance each other , similarly mix and match the other furnishings.

Your children might want a particular color scheme for their rooms and you must be having some of your favorite colors in mind for your room, color inspirations can be purely based on personal preferences too.

As soon as a design inspires you, do not right away go for it, collect few more and first paint the chosen color scheme on a small board or on paper and put together your entire ensemble of room accessories like lamp shades, rugs, frames or wall paintings, have a detailed look and judge if it is creating the effect you desire. You could do some last minute changes if you don’t get the look right or you might even want to go for a new theme altogether.
